5:00 AM - DEPART AKAGERA NATIONAL PARK FOR A GAME DRIVE
A driver-guide from Travelinrwanda will pick you up from your hotel in Kigali at 5h00, give a short briefing on your safari, and then drive to the eastern part of Rwanda to Akagera National Park (2h30), passing through Rwanda’s otherworldly landscapes and living styles. Arriving at the park, you will head to the park headquarters for registration and briefing, then proceed on a morning game drive in this African savannah park, which takes about 4 to 5 hours, depending on your arrival time. While on your game drive with our driver-guide, you will have the chance to enjoy the beautiful sights and sounds of this African Savannah Park, gazing at the elephants, roan antelope, Klipspringer, duikers, zebras, impalas, bushbucks, waterbucks and many more including the big five of Africa.
This park is one of the places not to be missed by any birder; it harbors 520 species of birds found in this national park, including the famous shoe bill stork, long-crested eagles, squacco, and more.
Known as one of the most scenic savannahs in East Africa, the game drive in Akagera provides the opportunity to view gentle hills blending beautifully with lowland swamps and water bodies. Picnic snacks and a bush-packed lunch will be served in the park. You will exit with more games viewing en route to Kigali.
